The Universe of EVE is the largest single online gaming platform in the world,
as such it encompasses every class of player on a single server. No matter the skill
level or confidence level of any one player then there are always those who can offer
advice and assistance. The very fact that everything occurs on a single server creates
an immense sense of community and altruism.
After having spent almost 4 years as an EVE player and having worked my way from being a new player up to CEO of a training corporation and currently head of an Alliance I feel that I have the experience to be a successful member of the CSM. During this time I have remained an Empire ‘carebear’ and spend much of my time running missions and trading/manufacturing. I no longer mine but much of my earlier EVE life did include a lot of mining.
In my time as a member of this community I have seen how people can work together to overcome adversity, to perpetuate camaraderie and above all to enjoy themselves. At the same time I have seen how the actions of an individual can attempt to subvert all the hard work that others put in.
Whilst I don't partake in PvP combat then I accept it as an important part of the game and I currently work closely with people who have spent months, years even, in 0.0 and have been involved in many campaigns.
My interest is in improving the game for the players who don't participate in PVP combat, creating new systems to help assist new players beyond the new player guide. Focussing on the industrial UI to ensure that everything works as intended. To improve agent missions to make the game more enjoyable for dedicated, and casual, mission runners.
Almost 80% of EVE players reside in Empire space.(source) I want to improve the game for this majority.
My interest has always been in Empire, with assisting new players to the game, those who are inexperienced and benefit from those who are able to explain not only what is useful to know, but also what is helpful. There has always been an element of risk involved to non-PvP combat players, even in the allegedly safe confines of Empire space, however recent actions by certain corporations have changed how things should be.
There has been a campaign of ‘ganks’ against honest miners and mission runners which, in my opinion, could ultimately endanger the very economy of EVE. If people won't mine for fear of being targeted the price and cost of minerals will increase, which in turn will increase the cost of production, the cost of ships, the cost of modules and weapons...
Price rises in Empire will affect the entire community, including those who reside in deep 0.0. They need minerals for ships and it has been proven that it is more economically sound to procure the vast quantities of low end minerals in Empire and ship them to 0.0. Although mineral compression is not as widely used as it was previously everyone still needs low end minerals.
